On September 1, 2024, I had the absolute honor of photographing a surprise proposal in the heart of Atlanta’s iconic Piedmont Park.

Jorge and Brenda, a lovely couple from South Carolina, came to Atlanta for a weekend getaway—one that would change their lives forever.

Planning the Perfect Surprise Proposal in Atlanta

Jorge reached out ahead of their trip, wanting to propose during what Brenda thought was just a romantic couples photoshoot. Together, we chose the Midtown Reflection spot within Piedmont Park as the perfect location.

To maintain the surprise, Jorge and I worked out a simple signal: I would ask them to face opposite directions and, on my count, run toward each other. At that moment, Jorge would drop to one knee.

The Big Moment

When we arrived at the Midtown Reflection, we gave it a test run. The first time Brenda hesitated, unsure about the “run toward each other” pose. But on the second try, magic happened.

As Brenda turned around, Jorge was down on one knee. Her stunned expression quickly shifted to excitement and happy tears as she said “YES!”

Finally, we visited my favorite spot in the park—the Midtown Landscape View, where the skyline beautifully framed the couple as they began their new chapter together.

A Proposal to Remember

Jorge and Brenda’s Piedmont Park proposal was a magical combination of planning, trust, and pure love.
